BBQ Rotisserie Counter Balance
What is the BBQ Rotisserie Counter Balance
I absolutely love my Weber Rotisserie. It is one of the best BBQ accessories I own and it helps produce some fantastic food. It doesn’t come at a cheap price (basically it is the same price as a BBQ) so prolonging the life it is really important.
I was put onto this product by @Glitch33.
The concept behind it is to help balance the main skewer if the meat has been ‘loaded’ and more weight is on one side. The idea is that it helps to equally balance the load and assist in a smooth rotation of the rotisserie, which in turn creates less strain on the motor.
It is made of stainless steel and the overall build quality is good.
It’s a simple device that is fairly easy to fit. It comes in 2 pieces but unfortunately, there are no instructions. Saying that it is pretty easy to figure out how to fit it to the main skewer. There is a smaller piece which fits over the main skewer and then the heavier counter weight screws into the smaller attachment. The larger counter weight is height adjustable, so depending on the food you are cooking you can make some minor adjustments to try to get an even balance.
So does it work?
If I am honest it is difficult to say how well this product works. I guess it is one where time will really tell. From the couple of cooks I have done with this (both chicken), my perception is that the turning motion of the rotisserie is much smoother. Theoretically, this should also provide a much more even cook. The logic of the product makes total sense, and for an outlay of £12.99 which ultimately may prolong the life of a product costing £150, I think it is well worth the small investment. I will keep updating this article as I use it more.
