Kamhairaiog Steel Wire BBQ Rack Cleaning Brush
It’s Only a BBQ Cleaning Brush
So this review is for a BBQ cleaning brush from Kamhairaiog. Not the most exciting thing in the world, but nevertheless a very important one.
With ‘BBQ season’ upon us there are quite a few articles on cleaning your BBQ. A fantastic one is from Richard Holden, and you won’t go far wrong following his instructions.
What is key (and I have found this from experience) is your BBQ will be much easier to keep in a good condition if you try to clean it as you use it. It may seem like a hassle but 5-10 minutes cleaning each time you cook will really help.
Light your coals (or gas) and once up to temperature give the grate a good scrub before you start cooking. I tend to do it this way rather than at the end of my cook as I am too busy eating!!!
I came across this brush on Amazon, when looking for cleaning products. The marketing/claims intrigued me so I thought I would give this product a go.
9 months down the line I am still using it and thought I would write up a review.
The packaging as you would probably expect is nothing fancy for a product like this. It does come with a small silicone brush but this is nothing to shout home about.
The key claims the manufacturers make are:
- 3 brushes in 1 head design, fast and convenient to clean grates.
- Strengthened steel wire, easy to remove dirt without damaging or scratching.
- Long handle, can clean at any angle while also protecting hands.
- Using Material: PP Handle + Steel Wire, excellent durability and not easily bend or break.
They also claim through extensive testing:
“We have found 17.5 Inches to be the best length for a grill brush. Long enough that your hand won’t get burnt, but short enough that you retain excellent leverage and control while cleaning your grate.”
The size of this product is 43 x 10 x 3.8 cm and weighs in at 299g. It does feel a nice weight in the hand.
The head is steel wire with steel connectors up to a Polypropylene handle.
I do leave this outside in all weathers and it has handles it well.
I have been really impressed with this BBQ cleaning brush. I really like the weight and length of the brush. You can get some really good leverage to really scrape at those tougher stains on the grate.
It not only handled the stainless steel grate well, but I also have some iron grates and it really helps on those. I recently cleaned the one for my hellfire and it came up really well. You can really get some ‘purchase’ and I actually have to use it one-handed, as I typically will hold the BBQ in place with the other.
One of the concerns with this type of brush is the bristles coming free and ending up in your food. To-date my experience has been positive, with no sign of bristles coming loose. As mentioned above I leave this out in the elements and there is very little sign of wear and tear generally with the brush.
At the time of writing this brush is now retailing at £11.99 on Amazon, which in my view is a real steal. If you are looking for a wire cleaning BBQ brush you won’t go far wrong with this one.
