Day 9 and Brazil are on the Menu
Day 9 of 2018 World Cup sees the cooking remaining in South America. We move slightly north to Brazil to cook Picanha Steak which is a popular cut in South America in general.
Picanha is a cut of beef called the Rump Cap. These individual steaks were from Turner & George, but you can buy a larger joint and cook it in a variety of different ways.
The Cook
This again was a fairly simple cook. I set the BBQ up for direct cooking. I added the steak and cooked for 90 seconds each side. I think 60 seconds each side would have been better but still really enjoyed them.
Once cooked, I allowed them to rest for 5 minutes and cooked the plantains whilst the steak rested. To serve I sliced the steak into strips, and plated with the plantains, salad and then drizzled the chimichurri over the top.
The Verdict
Again a fairly easy cook but I really do love this cut of beef. I have not had a bad Picanha Steak yet and I really like the addition of the chimichurri. I also really liked the fried plantains. They are one of my favourite for discoveries so far, whilst doing the World Cup of BBQ.
